Textual Focus: “Must I answer to the call of my sexual feelings whenever it dictates? Oh Lord grant me the grace to put my body under subjection in Jesus name. Amen I refuse to be controlled by my sexual urge. I take dominion over my body!” 1 Sam 18:14
Body nor be fire wood” is the major slogan which serves as an excuse for sexual immorality in Nigeria. Being an adult is not only by age, it’s more of being able to control your emotions, I.e. maturity. Your sexual emotions should not always put you in motion.
Anytime you see a handsome boy you feel like having sex with him. Anything on skirt makes your trousers swell, yet you say you are mature. You ain’t mature yet, you are still exhibiting the traits of immaturity irrespective of your age.
David in our textual focus was a youth with blood flowing in his vein. Yet he behaved himself wisely and the Lord was with him. Controlling yourself as a youth will become a norm to you and thus save you from adultery when you are married.
Self-control is one of the fruits of the spirit which is vital to our existence as humans. Just like self-discipline is important, so also sexual discipline is of paramount importance. No matter how high your sexual libido is, God has given you the ability to control it. Learn to behave yourself wisely irrespective of the situation. Your emotions are under you, they are not stronger than you. Discipline is key! May God help you to turn a new leaf as you discipline your sexual emotions in Jesus name.
Meditation: Must I answer to the call of my sexual feelings whenever it dictates?
